Popular USA Hip Hop Festivals

These are most popular and well-known Hip Hop Festivals in United States:

  • March. SXSW: South By Southwest (Austin, TX)

Obviously much more than a hip hop festival, SXSW is one of the world's premier creative hubs. Featuring conferences, speeches and festivals for various art forms, its central purpose is to give a platform to up-and-coming artists.
  • May. Rolling Loud Festival (Miami, FL)

The biggest hip hop festival in the world, Rolling Loud is a rap head's mecca. One of the main reasons for this is the fact that it is the first lineup of the new line of influential headliners and energetic newcomers.
  • June. The Governors Ball Music Festival (New York, NY)

Another multi-genre festival, hip hop has been central to Governors Ball since day one. Childhood Gambino in 2017, one of only two appearances on the year for the elusive rapper. Started 8 years ago because the organizers were music lovers who lived in a city that needed – that deserved – a contemporary music festival. Music is always their primary focus, and with 60+ artists of all genres across 4 stages, there is something for everyone. The next best thing after live music is delicious food, and Gov Ball features some of the best eats in town. With help from our friends at The Infatuation, we select restaurants, food trucks, and menus that prove why NYC is the foodie capital of the world.
  • June. The Roots Picnic (Philadelphia, PA)

The Roots Picnic is your favourite rapper's favourite festival. Essentially just a chance for hometown heroes The Roots to play music with their famously talented friends, the festival has a gleefully celebratory atmosphere.
  • July. Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival (Brooklyn, NY)

Brooklyn and hip hop go together like Jay-Z and number one albums. Sorry that wasn't a great metaphor, but the point is that the New York borough is inextricably linked with hip hop culture. So it's only right that it should host one of the genre's realest festivals. The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival is a world renowned music and cultural event dedicated to the celebration and preservation of Hip-Hop culture. We also endeavor to establish Brooklyn as a destination for the finest artists, musicians, writers, visual artists, authors, dancers in the world. Established in 2005 the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival is produced by Brooklyn Bodega. The Festival happens every summer, during the second week of July. We feature the best in Old School, New School, local and future stars of Hip-Hop.
  • September. Made In America (Philadelphia, PA)

Founded by Jay-Z, aka the greatest rapper of all time (yes that's right, I said it), Made In America is kind of like the more professional version of The Roots Picnic. And interestingly enough they both take place in Philly. LAST FEST LINEUP MIGHT BE THE DEEPEST ONE YET: Kendrick Lamar, Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj and Janelle Monae are among the headliners at the 2018 edition of Jay-Z’s Made in America festival. Jay-Z went the extra yard with the 2018 Made in America lineup. There are a number of heavy hitters and a few unheralded acts well worth catching when the 7th annual event returns to the Ben Franklin Parkway on Saturday and Sunday.
  • October. Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival (Los Angeles, CA)

Created and hosted by Odd Future alum Tyler, The Creator, Camp Flog Gnaw is an experience. Tyler had one night. Tyler had one night. VIP passes include one wristband good for entry on both nights with a dedicated entrance and access to the exclusive clubhouse, a main stage viewing area, and merch package that includes a pair of Golf Le Fleur x Converse personally designed by Tyler and more. A super VIP pass is also being offered, while single day unlimited carnival game passes will also be available. As for performers, the lineup will be announced at a later date for now, but for all information on ticketing and pricing, head over to campfloggnaw.com for all the details.
