Bachata Lab is a weekly bachata class and practice social in San Francisco, held every Friday at the Smuin Center for Dance in Potrero Hill. We teach three levels at the same time, beginner, intermediate and advanced, so you can join whether it is your first night or your hundredth. The focus is Bachata Moderna and Bachata Sensual, and we bring in visiting artists for workshops from time to time. Every Friday runs the same way. Doors open at 8:00 PM with a warm-up in footwork and body movement that everyone does together. From 8:30 to 9:30 the room splits into three classes for partnerwork. Partners rotate every 90 seconds or so, so you do not need to bring one; most people come alone and dance with a dozen different people in the hour. After class, the floor opens for a supervised practice social until 1:00 AM. Class and social is $20 booked ahead on Eventbrite or $25 at the door. Social only is $15 either way, and you are welcome to arrive at 9:30 just to dance. Pay at the door by Venmo, PayPal or Zelle. Adults only. Wear anything you can move in, with non-scuffing shoes; the studio has a sprung ballet floor.
