Save the date: The Spirit of Swing festival is back in Aix-en-Provence for its 4th edition. This international swing and dance music festival is organized by Aixtraswing, the swing dance association of Aix-en-Provence. Located in the heart of Provence in southeastern France between Nice and Montpellier, this joyful event takes place in the historic and enchanting city of Aix-en-Provence, welcoming you with its 17th-century decorated squares, famous fountains, and terraces.
Dive into swing culture through dances, live jazz music, and history. The main venue is an amphitheater housed in a former matches factory, providing the perfect setting to set the dancefloor on fire.
The program includes two concerts featuring two different jazz bands with plenty of swinging power to make you dance, two swing balls on Friday and Saturday with live music and DJ, and a large amphitheater with 270 seats and three dancefloors. Open-air dances with a "guinguette" atmosphere, shows, and mix-and-match competitions round out the offerings. On Saturday, discovery courses are available for curious newcomers. A film screening or conference about jazz and dance takes place on Thursday with free attendance for workshop ticket holders. Sunday features a bye-bye party, and swing dance workshops on Saturday and Sunday offer several levels in both Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz.
The Spirit of Swing celebrates the true meaning of swing: the joy of dancing to jazz music. All classes and parties happen in the heart of the city with venues reachable by foot or public transport, so your only journey during The Spirit of Swing festival is a travel back to the Swing Era.
