West Coast Swing (WCS) is a fun dance that anyone can learn. It’s a form of swing dancing danced in a slot to pop and blues music. - On Wednesdays, we have both novice- and intermediate-level lessons. - No partner is required as we rotate partners during the lessons and all ages are welcome. - After the lessons, join us for open dancing, drinks, and merriment. Beginners and newbies are always welcome! BASICS: MASKS ARE REQUIRED: You must wear a mask over your nose and mouth unless you are sitting down AND having a beverage/meal. We want to keep everyone safe while enjoying the dance we love. See our Covid-19 Operating Procedures for more information. [hidden] PRE-REGISTRATION: We want everyone to be comfortable with their dancing experience. To adhere to capacity restrictions, registration will be done online. We can only admit up to 50 attendees at a time. We will cut off registration when we are at capacity (we have sold out previously). If you would like to simply show up you may, but if we are at capacity you will have to wait until someone leaves for the evening to enter (and we also must reserve space for those who signed up online but may not have arrived yet). Many people leave after lessons are completed. Once you pre-register, we have contact-less entry. Simply give us your full name upon entry. Register here: [hidden] GROUP CLASSES: All attendees have 2 options. - You can rotate within the group class. You do not need to bring a partner. - You can stay with your partner only and not rotate. OPEN DANCING: All attendees have 2 options: - Dancing only with your partner. We will section off space on the floor for you and your partner only. - Dancing with the larger group. This is regular open dancing with others. At any time, an attendee may refuse to dance with anyone they feel uncomfortable with. PRICING: Cover (entry) is $12 and is mandatory (yes cover is higher as our rent has increased). This includes open dancing from 8:30 PM until 11:00 PM. Lessons are $5 each and are optional. We are in between Hooters and Olive Garden on the service road off of Butterfield Rd. in Downers Grove. We're across the street from Best Buy. The dance is in the side room. Go to the back and go through the double doors on the left. The Sand Club has great food and drinks, pool tables, a beer garden and pretty much anything you could want.
