The first salsa studio in Houston, seen by over 1 , 000 , 000 Houstonians, a Certificate of Congressional Recognition, a Jefferson Award, two City of Houston Proclamations (and here), over 25 newspaper articles, over 30 television and radio appearances, over 50 community projects, several thousand students, are among the many accomplishments linked to Strictly Street Salsa. That passionate dream of sharing the Latin American culture that started with 5 students in a small dance studio back in 1998 has grown beyond our expectations while still remaining committed to the theme that motivated us: bringing audiences a taste of an authentic Latin American dance experience or as its called in Latin circles, sabor (soul). Along with public events, stage performances, and multiple media appearances, Strictly Street Salsas instructors must complete a minimum of 60 hours of training before teaching. Among the areas included are: dance, music, pedagogy and methodology, this to ensure quality and experienced instruction for our student body. In addition, instructors are required to remain current and always be improving by attending a weekly training session and when possible regional and national events. Studies in the area of Rueda, Casino, Salsa, History of Latin Music and Dance, Son, Rumba, Afro-Cuban Folklore and others have been done with some of today most prominent experts in the field More Info below.
