Join us May 22-25, 2020 to celebrate TEN YEARS of the Philly Tango Festival. Can you believe its been 10 years? Weve done LOTS of things to make this the most amazing festival yet, and a fitting celebration of a decade of festivals One of the most amazing occurrences in the history of our festival was when the Tpica Messiez made its world premiere at the 2019 festival. Since that debut, the orchestra has been contracted by Lincoln Center, the Gavito Tango Festival (LA) and many other large tango events. The Tpica Messiez will perform at the main festival milonga on both Saturday and Sunday nights this year. A trio from the orchestra, under the direction of pianist Emiliano Messiez, will perform on Friday and Monday nights. Yes, that means that well have extremely danceable live music every night of this festival! We have put together a hallucinatorily amazing group of maestros for this festival, many of whom have a special connection to the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School. Fabian Salas Lola Diaz Carla Marano Octavio Fernandez Maja Petrovi and Marko Miljevi Matias Facio Adam Hoopengardner Ciko Tanik Gustavo Rember Emiliano Messiez Leandro Ragusa (musicians) Kristin Balmer Amy Yang Andres Amarilla Meredith Klein This years festival offers FOUR different multi-workshop seminars, giving dancers more opportunities to study a range of tango topics in-depth: Tango History, Music Dance Seminar: 3 workshops taught by Gustavo, Emiliano Leandro (No partner needed) In-Depth Close Embrace Seminar: 4 workshops taught by Maja Marko (Partners only) La Propuesta Seminar: 3 workshops taught by Carla Octavio (Partners only) On Off Axis Seminar: 3 workshops taught by Fabian Lola (Partners only) Amazingly, we have scheduled these seminars so that none of the workshops conflict. Yup, you can take all of them!
