pring is busting out all over at the Eastgate Cafe, 102 Harrison St,, Oak Park to a swinging, jazz beat as Esther Jones and her accompanists Doug Lalli and Dave Gulyas perform all your favorite tunes from the Great American Song Book. Esther Jones is not only a talented jazz and blues vocalist, she's also a published poet, lyricist and playwright. She also has her own YouTube channel featuring her musical performances. She’s been heard on WnotZRD 88.3 FM, appeared in a Personal Documentary filmed by Scenic Road and performed at Renaldis’ Chicago. Esther is also a regular at several jam sessions around town including our own Eastgate Sunday Jazz Jams. In fact, there’s where Esther first met Doug Lalli and Dave Gulyas! Doug leads the professional Jazz Jam session that the Eastgate Café hosts every Sunday afternoon and Dave is a regular visitor to the sessions. In addition to being an award-winning jazz pianist, Doug is also a composer, novelist and teacher, he’s been playing at clubs in New York, Philadelphia and Chicago for the last 30 years. He’s played at the Green Mill, the Signature Room, Andy’s and other jazz venues in the city. Dave was part of the classic jazz scene in Bloomington, Indiana for several years, He recorded and performed with two-time Grammy winner, Sylvia McNair. Dave and Carol recently moved back to the area and are now regulars at the EastGate jazz jams.
