In this four week series, we will work on Partnered Charleston. Charleston is an integral part of Lindy Hop. We will be kicking and hopping to the swinging rhythm of big band music from 1930s and 40s. This is an open level course. We will go over the basics while we keep the materials challenging with exciting variations for more advanced dancers. Absolute beginners are most definitely welcome.
We will meet every Monday for 4 weeks from 7:00 - 8:00pm starting MAR 11. Drop-ins are welcome for the 1st and 2nd week of the series. Drop-ins are welcome for the 1st and 2nd week of the series or if you've attended the 1st or 2nd week or have some past dance experience.
We will rotate partners frequently during the lesson so you will instantly make lots of new friends!! You will have a chance to mingle and dance with each other and try out all the new moves to authentic 30's and 40's jazz music. Although drop ins are welcome, we highly recommend to attend all 4 classes to learn various steps of swing dancing so that you will be comfortable on the social dance floor. Besides, there is a big discount by signing up for the whole month so please take advantage of it!
Classes are taught by Akemi Kinukawa and Lewi Gilamichael, very experienced and friendly instructors of Swing Dance Astoria ([hidden]).
