Sewing A Flamenco Skirt

Do you dream of dancing the Sevillanas during the summer feria in Spain in a colorful handmade skirt?
Join us for the Flamenco Skirt Class and learn part of the Seviallans dance. We will pair you up that day with a dance partner or you can bring a friend, child, sister or brother to attend the class with you.
This class will introduce the structural difference of ruffles and flounces and teach you how to attach them to your skirt for desired fullness. We will add scraps of fabric as ruffles and flounces to a premade skirt, then adorn the skirt with additional lace, trims, ribbons, and flowers. An optional fringe shawl is available for those not wanting to sew the flamenco skirt. Advanced sewers can bring their own sewing machine, intermediate sewers may use hand sewing techniques with creative reuse materials provided by SCRAP, and beginners may use fabric glue if desired.
Please bring a straight, knee-length skirt from your closet or thrifted (any color, fabric). All other materials will be provided by SCRAP.
