Don't miss this! MODERN TECHNIQUE CLASS (AGE 8-12) WED DEC 21 / 3:00 - 4:30 PM The focus of this class is to learn the discipline and basic vocabulary of modern dance - and dancing a whole lot! We will begin with a warm up drawn from practices in modern dance, pilates, and yoga to work on strength, flexibility, and alignment. From there we will learn dance phrases that travel across the floor and work together to learn and create a dance that we will perform for each other at the end of class. MODERN TECHNIQUE CLASS (AGE 13 & UP) WED DEC 21 / 5:30 - 7:00 PM This intermediate/advanced modern class is great for dancers who want to increase skills in musicality and movement quality to go along with dance techniques they have already been training in. Class will begin with a basic warm up that leads into learning a choreographed dance that will travel all over the space. Students will be encouraged to bring their own style to the class and we will work together to draw out personal performance skills within group dance work. Email [hidden] to reserve your spot. She grew up in Port Angeles, Washington and trained for over a decade with Mary Marcial at the Port Angeles Dance Center and Sylvia Wanner at The Ballet Workshop. Her work has been presented by FringeArts (Philadelphia), The Current Sessions (NYC), Festival International de Teatro Susana Alexander (Mexico), Fleet Moves Dance Festival (Cape Cod), Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (IL), The Domestic Performance Agency (NYC) and extensively in Chicago with institutions such as Links Hall, Chicago Home Theater Festival, Chicago Dance Crash, and The Inconvenience. She has performed nationally and internationally with artists including The Chicago Dance Company, The Seldoms, Kristina Isabelle Dance Company, Khecari Dance Theater, The Moving Architects, The Space/Movement Project, Julie Mayo, Eric Handman, Stephanie Acosta, Nico Brown and Erin Kilmurray.
