José Fernandez Torres - known as Tomatito, is a world-renowned flamenco guitarist, noted for his mastery of the flamenco rhythms and his elegant style. He is the only flamenco artist to win five Latin Grammy Awards throughout his career.
A celebrated gypsy flamenco guitarist, Tomatito´s music is a thrilling blend of traditional flamenco and jazz. He has released six solo albums, worked with such greats as Paco de Lucía and legendary flamenco singer Camarón de la Isla, and shared the stage with Elton John, Chick Corea and Frank Sinatra.
A charismatic personality, along with an unrelenting commitment to the continuity of flamenco's development, have brought him worldwide recognition not only in the field of music, but also in film, theatre and art. He has collaborated with a multitude of performers from all over the globe and has encouraged and influenced a whole generation of young and upcoming artists.
Tomatito had a cameo appearance in the film 'The Devil's Advocate'” starring Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves, and also composed music for the movie “Vengo”, winning the César Award for Best Music Written for a Film in 2001. Tomatito’s latest CD “Soy Flamenco” obtains Latin Grammy Award for best Flamenco Album in 2014. Featuring his current group: guitarist Jose del Tomate, percussionist Israel Suarez Pirana, singers Kiki Cortinas and David Maldonado. Featured dancer Jose Maya.
