Queer Tango Practica

Join us at our bi-weekly practica where we will dance together for fun and study. We will share our wisdom with each other and enjoy the open dance time and music. No formal instruction is provideded. All levels welcome. QUEER TANGO PRACTICA Where: Dance Place at Liberty Station, Unit 201 Cost: $10 per person Please RSVP. What is Queer Tango? Queer Tango (or Tango Queer) is to dance Argentine tango without regard to the traditional heteronormative roles of the dancers, and often to exchange the leader and follower roles. Therefore, it is related to open role or same-sex tango. The queer tango movement permits not only an access to tango for the LBGTQIAA+ community, but also supports female leaders and male followers, regardless of sexual orientation. Many people like to dance and choose roles for many reasons. It's not limited to queer individuals but I embrace the term 'queer' because it embodies the spirit of freedom and equality from the gay culture, promoting playful negotiation and safety and respect for all genders, orientations, and styles where anybody can invite any body to dance. The point is to express ourselves with the tango and explore what is possible within each pairing. Follow us: [hidden] More Info below.
