Footwork, combinations, and spinning are a great way to show off your talents, but without the rhythm and body isolation to go with them, youll lack the control necessary to give your dancing that style and flair that drove you to salsa in the first place. Many instructors will focus on steps and combinations only. If youve seen beginners in clubs doing advanced steps off-beat and with stiff backs, then you know what Im talking about In our classes, we not only learn how to move to the beat, but how to hear the music, isolate motion in your body, feel the connection with your partner, and send all the right signals make your salsa come to life. We learn some awesome patterns to go with the sexy styling too. The Salsa Matei Dance School was founded in 2008 by Matei in order to bring a unique style of instruction to Boston dancers. While many studios teach mainly patterns, we focus on all four fundamentals of salsa in our classes: steps -- where you put your feet, rhythm -- keeping time with the music, style -- body isolation and improvisation, and partnering -- feeling your partner without having to see them. We teach you what to do with your body and arms, show you how to do it, and explain why you do it. By varying the focus throughout the class, we keep it fun and interesting while providing you with the tools to become a great dancer. More Info below.
