Intermediate Level Dance Masterclasses For Adults At Studio Wayne Mcgregor

Studio Wayne McGregor will be hosting a series of monthly dance masterclasses for adults. Led by Studio Wayne McGregor artists and professional artists from our FreeSpace programme, each session will focus on developing your technical and creative dance skills in a range of dance styles. These workshops are suitable for non-professional dancers aged 18 plus with some level of dance experience. You may have trained in dance as a young person or at degree level and are missing the opportunity to move and work creatively. Also suitable for those teaching dance in education and community settings. Masterclasses will take place at Studio Wayne McGregor’s state of the art studios at Here East on the Olympic Park. Wednesday September 18 19.15 - 21.00 Chloe Aliyanni Chloe’s class will take you through the basics of contemporary dance, encouraging students to increase mobility and find freedom and pleasure in movement. Drawing from Release techniques, David Zambrano’s Flying Low, and Contact Improvisation, the pace and enegy will progressively build. Students will work on strengthening and softening the body, while developing awareness and endurance. Wednesday October 16 19.15 - 21.00 Irene Cioni Irene Cioni is a dancer and choreographer with more than 15 years experience in dancing, creating, producing and collaborating in many dance and theatre projects, in London and all over the world. Irene’s class will explore some of the principles of the Flying Low and Passing Through technique. It is a very physical floor work class that focuses on the way we go into and out of the ground; followed by both group and couple exercises we explore how to cross the space and how we connect to the room and our classmates. We will practise running, spiralling, squatting and we will explore different pathways. We will play with both the tools you learn in the class and the tools you bring from your own experience, and the class will culminate in a final group improvisation. Wednesday November 13 19.15 - 21.00 Tyrone Isaac Stuart Tyrone Isaac Stuart is a multidisciplinary artist, primarily using sound & movement practices to tell stories. He will teach a Jazz Experimental Class that focuses on imagination, rhythm and repertoire from his upcoming album. Wednesday December 11 19.15 - 21.00 Avatâra Ayuso Avatâra Ayuso is a choreographer, Artistic Director of AVA DANCE COMPANY, a cultural leader and activist in the dance world. She trained in ballet, Argentinean Tango and in Linguistics. In 2005 she became part of the D.A.N.C.E. programme where she worked and performed internationally under the artistic direction of William Forsythe, Wayne McGregor, Frédéric Flamand and Angelin Preljocaj. She obtained a Postgraduate Degree in Dance from Palucca Hochschule Dresden. From 2010-2018 she was Associate Artist of the European Centre for the Arts Hellerau Dresden (Germany) and Associate Company of Creative Academy Slough (UK) since 2014. She was nominated for the 2015 National Dance Awards in the UK. She is Residence Artist 2019 at the Teatro del Lago in Chile. Avatâra is Associate Artist of Shobana Jeyasingh Dance (UK).
