"Movement Mechanics Application" is all about continuing our practice of developing natural movement from the GROUND UP! There is no true movement in the body without a connection to our feet and there is no footwork that shouldn't produce an effect in the body. In this 90 minute intensive, we will work certain common movement elements found Mambo (and other Afro-Latin dances), as well as the footwork that produces them. We’ll start with a warmup consisting of drills to introduce these different elements, followed by a sequence of footwork to lay the structure where we want to derive it from. And finally, we will go back to the movement and how to connect it to each and every step taken, as well as how this changes depending on the speed of the rhythms we're making. As always, there will be an emphasis placed on weight transfer, structural preparation (preparing the body to receive information from the ground), and working the process of our steps in connection to the music.
