Awarded Irish Voice’s Most Influential Woman 2010 presented by Ireland's Prime Minister, the singer-songwriter has five CD releases, Black Irish (2010), Good Things Come to Those Who Wait (2011), A Celt in the Cotton Club (2013), Irish Bayou (2015), and Folk Songs: Songs About Real Folks (2017). This Irish-American jazz powerhouse writes original music that sounds like it was composed for Ella Fitzgerald or Louis Armstrong, but also performs traditional Irish songs with fresh arrangements meant more for a prohibition swing dance hall than an Irish pub. She has performed at the Cork Jazz Fest in Ireland, the St Brigid's Day festival in London, the An Ri Ra Irish Fest in Butte, Montana, and Texas' famous South By Southwest-SXSW in Austin. She is the daughter of Irish immigrants and lives in New York City. She calls herself a Bliss Ambassador. Join us on the 22nd for a book launch concert. She and guitarist 'Vinny McElhinney with the Ravioli Eyes' will perform the songs from the soundtrack of her new memoir 'Migrating Toward Happiness; The Soundtrack to My Spiritual Awakening'. It is a story about how she replicated her Irish immigrant grandmother's 1957 road trip from New York to Seattle in a '57 Chevy Bel Air. The inspiring story features the Irish experience in America, as well as flashbacks to her summers in Donegal. There will be a book signing after the concert.
