Essential Kitchen Skills Workshop

Have more fun and save time in the kitchen and perfect your julienne, batons, and chiffonade. Whether you have a $5 knife or a $500 knife, we will learn to sharpen that workhorse into a fine-honed blade back to its factory edge. So please bring your knives or if you can use one of ours! To note: we do not sell knives.The first lesson in professional training is to learn to select, handle, and maintain knives. Each knife has a specific purpose and earning to use each knife with confidence and precision takes a great deal of knowledge. Focusing on vegetable and fruit preparation, learn to use the correct knife with expertise by being shown how to and participate by chopping, slicing, and dicing like a pro in this hands-on 2.5 to 3-hour workshop. Recipes include: - Watermelon and Tomato Gazpacho - Mango and Basil Salsa - Meyer Lemon and Tangerine in Caramel SauceUsing a voucher to pay for this course?Before purchasing a class or course, you'll need to validate your voucher by clicking here and entering your unique code. Class CurriculumCooking with fellow classmates is a central part of your Saga Hill Cooking experience. You will cook some of your recipes in pairs and some independently, and there is always more than enough food! Your day will comprise of a mixture of hands-on and demonstrations lead by Chef Marianne Miller. Come hungry since you will be eating the food that you have cooked during your class and you will be offered a custom cocktail around a communal table. Please call the school to discuss any relevant allergies with a member of the staff. Practical [hidden] is included: * Refreshments on arrival * An electronic recipe packet * All ingredients provided and weighed out for you in advance * Lunch of your own making or sharing platters prepared by the school, both with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. * We do the washing up!What you need to bring: * Flat soled shoes * You knives if you would like them sharpenedAllergies and dietary restrictions: We are happy to make adjustments where possible. Some classes are however unsuitable for people with particular intolerance's - where the menu would need to be completely different.
