Thursday June 22nd 7pm to 8pm Musicality class (Phrase Structure and form) 8pm to 10pm Practica and live music Class $15 Practica $12 Class and Practica $25 Class Description: Folias' pre-milonga musicality dance class "Phrase Structure and Form" features live and recorded music to help dancers understand how to interpret the melodies of "Golden Era" orchestra arrangements and suggest how to integrate musical form to their dance with movements they already know. TANGO BIO Carmen Maret and Andrew Bergeron of the Folias Flute and Guitar Duo have performed at milongas and taught tango workshops throughout the United States since 2002. The nomadic duo has played on stages around the globe including in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Argentina, and Guinee, West Africa. Carmen and Andrew have self-booked and promoted tours extensively throughout North America which have included festivals in Alaska and Canada and milongas in over forty tango communities throughout the United States including their premier at the Burning Tango Festival in 2016. Carmen Maret began dancing tango and performing tango with the Kansas City, MO based group, Tango Lorca in 2001. She also studied tango as an ethnomusicology Master’s student at Michigan State University, and produced a Master’s thesis in 2005 that looked at tango in the Michigan Argentine Tango club based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Andrew and Carmen's original tango compositions and arrangements have been recorded on six albums available through Folias Music.
