Misako Ballet Company Presents 'sea Of Change' Ft The Premiere Of A Story Ballet, Undersea Palace

Misako Ballet Company presents "Sea Change" featuring the premier of the one act ballet, "Undersea Palace" choreographed by Misako Aoki. "Undersea Palace " is based on a famous Japanese folktale called, "Urashima Taro." A fisherman saves the life of a sea turtle and is invited to visit the fantastic Undersea Palace as a reward. The Princess of the Sea honors the fisherman for his kind deed, and he enjoys meeting many wondrous oceanic creatures. However, when he tries to go home, he finds his beloved village much changed. The program will also include excerpts from "Le Corsaire" (featuring a pas de deux by guest dancers Kaori Mizushima and Jun Kai of Japan) and "Cinderella." Matcha Time Cafe will serve Japanese tea and snacks from 12-30 -1:30pm and during the intermission. Misako Ballet Company is a recipient of grant funding from the Maryland State Arts Council and Howard County Arts Council for the 2015-16 Season. Funding for the Maryland State Arts Council is also provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, which believes that a great nation deserves great art. More Info below.
