Beginner Collegiate Shag

Desiree and Aaron are excited to once again teach Collegiate Shag at Fizz's Beyond the Basics series! Despite the name of the series, neither experience nor partner is required. We teach the basics of Shag from the ground up, and rotate partners throughout the lesson. Collegiate Shag descended from tap dancing prior to the swing era, and continued to evolve during the swing era to include more rhythms and interpretations of the dance. In this series, you'll learn classic Shag steps from the ground up. Then you'll learn some more patterns, different rhythms, and dynamic footwork variations. Get a feel for Shag's connection, learn a variety of classic Shag steps, and discover new ways to express yourself to jazz and swing music!
