Salsa Dance Class For Kids At Srbcc

This fun, inclusive, and engaging class is for children ages 7-12 years old. This beginners class will focus on teaching the roots of salsa music and dance, as well as teach the basic steps and partner work fundamentals for “on2” salsa. Led by a registered dance therapist who has extensive experience working in both recreational and mental health settings, this class will incorporate activities that will foster self-esteem, social-emotional learning, creativity, expression, and communication skills. When: Thursdays, Oct. 24th- Nov. 14th Time: 5:30-6:30 Maria’s love for Latin Dance stems from her Puerto Rican roots and connection to Latinx culture. She is a dance instructor and artistic director for MODOS Dance Company, a therapeutic dance company that provides access to therapeutic dance to underserved communities in Chicago. Maria loves to showcase her fierce and bold persona on stage, but also enjoys sharing her goofy and outgoing self with others off the stage. Her passion for dance and psychology led her to pursue her Masters Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling at Columbia College Chicago. She has a strong understanding of the mind-body connection, which shapes her holistic approach with her students, building well-rounded dancers through the power of movement. More Info below.
