Changüí Majadero has distinguished itself with a modern take on the Afro-Cuban musical tradition of changüí, the 19th-century foundation of contemporary salsa informed by African influences. The Los Angeles–based band brings its infectiously danceable tunes to campus. This free outdoor concert is presented as part of the ongoing Levitt on the Lawn Music Series supported by alumna Elizabeth Levitt Hirsch ’74, board president of the Levitt Foundation, and by the Chicano Latino Student Affairs.
