DiáLogos: An Evening Of Flamenco Conversation And Performance

Espacio Flamenco brings its new show Diálogos to the historic Mission Theater this October and you are invited to join the conversation! With special guest artists Alfonso Cid and Jed Miley, Diálogos is a celebration of the flamenco language that links the singing, guitar, dance, and percussion. Each discipline has a great strength in its own right but when they come together they create a rich dialogue that is unparalleled in the world of dance and performance art. A pre-show interactive lecture/demonstration will be given by professional flamenco singer Alfonso Cid, those who are not too shy are invited to do some hand clapping and learn some basic steps! Alfonso will take the audience on a journey to the world of flamenco with a short lecture about the history of flamenco and its development. He will explore the differences between various styles in the genre, discuss the techniques behind the vocals, guitar playing and dance as well as about some of its most influential artists. No previous flamenco experience or knowledge of the Spanish language is needed.
