About Moria Chappell: Touring 42 countries worldwide Moria Chappell has spent the last 16 years performing and teaching the art of Tribal Fusion and Temple Fusion Belly Dance. A Tribal Fusion belly dancer since 2001, Moria became a principle dancer, and subsequently the Artistic Director, for the world famous Bellydance Superstars from 2005-2015. Moria is heralded as an innovator in choreography, costume and make-up design, and as a creator of newly formed fusion arts in the realm of Temple and Sacred Arts dance. About Bagoas: Bagoas is an award winning tribal fusion belly dancer known for his musicality, lyricism, technical power, precision, dramatic presentations, overwhelming charisma and down to earth interaction with his audience. In 2010 he won the title of the Yellow Rose of Texas at Ya Halla Y'all in the Professional Tribal Alternative Men's category. Since then, he has been published in Zaghareet magazine, What Weekly, and Belly Dance Japan, and has performed at oriental dance events along the East Coast including Rakkasah East, Belly Horror, Art of the Belly, DC Tribal Café, and Seven Cities Tribal Cafe. He has also been a featured performer and workshop instructor at events such as the premiere Annapolis Fringe Festival 2011, the Winter Festival of Wonders 2012 and TribalCon 2015. **************************************************************************** Workshops with MORIA: (Detailed descriptions below) *Temple Dance Fusion* Saturday 10-12 p.m. incorporates sacred temple and royal court dances from ancient India, Java, Cambodia, China, and Hawaii. *Serpentine* Sunday 1:30-3:30 p.m. is a study in the exquisite and sultry movements that compose sensuous tribal fusion dancing. Workshops with BAGOAS: *Chrysalides and Butterflies* Saturday 1:30-3:30 p.m. In this workshop, students will explore musculature in the upper body to encourage fuller range, and style of motion. *Think it, Feel it, Move it* Sunday 10-12 p.m. In this session, dancers will learn to isolate and drill the muscles in the lower body through a combination of visualization and kinetic feedback. The intricacies of these dances, layered and blended with Tribal Fusion belly dance techniques, produce a beautiful tableaux of what is most inspiring and captivating from these cultures including dance styles, unique props, costuming, jewelry, make-up, and hair design. The goal of the workshop is for dancers to learn basic temple dance techniques from a variety of cultures in order to embellish their performance repertoire and add to it unique and exciting stylistic elements from the world of Odissi Fusion, Javanese Fusion, Cambodian & Chinese Apsara Fusion, and Hula Fusion. *SERPENTINE* is a study in the exquisite and sultry movements that compose sensuous tribal fusion dancing. In SERPENTINE you will learn how to master the necessary flexibility to make molten movements that drip from combination to combination.Liquid arms and body flow, beautiful facial and hand expressions, as well as how to maintain a strong posture from the upper back are emphasized. You will learn control and isolation while dancing with the grace and physical dexterity required for liquid techniques. *Chrysalides and Butterflies* In this workshop, students will explore musculature in the upper body to encourage fuller range, and style of motion. Sharp, staccato isolations will serve as the chrysalis for smooth, butterfly-like curves in the chest and arms. Movements will then be layered into comprehensive combos that can be incorporated into personal practice, choreography or improvisational performance. *Think it, Feel it, Move it* Sunday 10-12 p.m. In this session, dancers will learn to isolate and drill the muscles in the lower body through a combination of visualization and kinetic feedback. Hip movements will be broken down into specific muscle groups so that students can incorporate isolated movements into choreography and improvisational performances with ease and confidence.
