Wikipedia defines Personal Branding as “the process whereby people and their careers are marketed as brands…leading to an indelible impression that is uniquely distinguishable.” In this class we’ll explore some basic branding and marketing techniques: • Writing effective artist biographies and stage introductions • Creating awesome, information-packed flyers, website copy, etc. • Unique selling points and creating ads and flyers • Using social media to your advantage for promotion • Establishing your “brand” • Writing press releases that will actually get you press This class will teach you how set you apart from the crowd…without setting you apart from your cash! Tentative weekend schedule Saturday workshops: 2pm-4pm: ABS-OLUTELY FABULOUS: ALL ABDOMINAL TECHNIQUE It’s time to BELLY dance…This special workshop will focus exclusively abdominal technique and core strength and laying the foundation for truly incredible abdominal work. Learn how to flutter and achieve amazing belly rolls- we’ll drill rolls upwards, downwards and from side to side! You will also learn to LAYER your abdominal movements, like the amazing “flundulation”, a flutter layered over a belly roll; or combining abdominal work with figure eights and upper torso isolations. Also: stomach pops, many types of body waves and undulations, muscular and breathe control. Pretty soon you’ll be yellin’, “That’s Just How I Roll!” 4:30pm-6:30pm: BEAUTY AND POWER! ISOLATIONS, MUSICALITY AND LYRICAL INTERPETATION What ingredients make a terrific dance performance? Dynamic technique, controlled isolations, great entrances and exits, musicality and interpretation, precise body lines, seamless transitions and stage presence! After a warm-up, we will drill technique for mind-bending layers, isolations, speed changes plus beautiful arms and hands. Then we will concentrate on musical interpretation, integrating emotion and intent. You will learn some short combinations designed to help you trust your intuition and let your creative juices flow, and to develop the tools to spontaneously create beautiful Oriental or belly dance fusion pieces using your mind and body fully to increase your performance skills. * Open to all levels , bring a veil & cymbals if you use them Sunday workshops: 10am-12pm: ORIENT NOIR: VOLATILE COMBINATIONS! Add some dynamite to your dancing! These dangerous, and somewhat naughty combinations fuse the very best elements of traditional belly dance with hot Fosse-style jazz and some seriously sassy showgirl attitude. From fan kicks to floor work, from gooey to glamorous, we will concentrate on incendiary fusion moves great for almost any style of dancing. We’ll go over concepts for beautiful body lines, clean technique, intricate weight transfers plus level and speed changes that cause an audience to look twice, but never look away!
