Rbc Bluesfest 2022

Named a top ten North American music festival by Billboard thanks to its history of booking many of the most influential acts in the world, RBC Bluesfest much like New Orleans Jazz Heritage Festival exhibits so much more than its moniker might imply. The sprawling festival brings together numerous musical acts spanning a variety of genres to delight a broad range of music lovers. With humble beginnings in 1994 and 5,000 people in attendance, the event (formerly known as Ottawa Bluesfest) now attracts around 300,000 attendees annually over 10 summer days to Lebreton Flats a beautiful stretch situated along the Ottawa River on the grounds of the Canadian War Museum..embed-container position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; margin-bottom: 20px; .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; Blues Driven, Diversity RequiredWhether blue notes are near to your heart, or you prefer heavy guitar riffs and hip-hop beats, RBC Bluesfest showcases all manner of music stylings across its five stages. From rock and rap, jazz, folk and soul, to that obscure indie act youll keep on repeat the rest of your days, the festivals lineups prove year after year that theres something for everyones ears in Ottawa. What with near 250 performances annually, youll find just what youre after amongst countless headliners and up-and-comers. Honestly, if you cant find an act or two to thrill those musical sensibilities were not entirely sure if youre actually into music at all. Most stages the world over couldnt dream of being graced by the likes of Bob Dylan, Iron Maiden, Santana, Weezer, Zeds Dead, Snoop Dogg and ZZ Top, let alone those at a festival with the word blues in its name. The Globe and Mails music writer Brad Wheeler put it best, affirming theres nothing that Ottawa Bluesfest could present on stage anymoreshort of Elvis Presley and Harry Houdinithat could surprise me.They Do Good ThingsYou dig a festival experience that helps others, right? RBC Bluesfest has you covered. Numerous community initiatives fostered by the team behind Bluesfest positively impacts local artists, the environment and music education. Particularly worthy of note are Bluesfests 37.5 million boon to the National Capital Region, and its award-winning programs, Blues in the Schools and Be In the Band. Founded in 2009, Be in the Band connects young musicians with other potential bandmates looking to jam. Additionally, mentorship and equipment are provided for weekly rehearsals that culminate in a community performance. Thereafter, select bands in the program will score a spot on Bluesfests lineup. An ongoing instrument drive, too, encourages Ottawa residents to share in the joy of music by dropping off out-of-use instruments at the Festival House. Blues in the Schools devotes hundreds of hours of in-class instruction each spring to thousands of students in Ottawa schools. Through assembly-style presentations, core group sessions and supplemental lessons, visiting artists and educators empower students through song, teaching skills that lead to a more fulfilling school experience. When Blues Are GreenRecognized by the Recycling Council of Ontario with an award for Waste Minimization, Ottawa Bluesfest is committed to significantly reducing the source of all on-site waste products and monitoring and improving the collection and management of these products. Accordingly, RBC Bluesfests Executive Director Mark Monahan pledges to lead by example in the responsibility we all share to reduce our collective carbon footprint. To that effect, a volunteer Green Team is recruited to help patrons with best practices for participating in greening initiatives. And worry not about those beer cups! Theyre made from corn, and nearly 99% of the 200,000 cups used throughout the festival are composted. Further, RBC Bluesfest water stations are available for rent year round, ensuring plastic water bottles across other Canadian event grounds never see a landfill. More Info below.
