Lia Robertson will be kicking off the new year with a good “old” Mambo Openwork practice! ********* We highly recommended her workshops, she is a fine educator trained by one of NYC's best, please check her out! ********* In this 90-minute Intensive, we won’t just be focusing on one specific skill or technique. This time we’ll be doing it ALL! Training and application of all the elements that comprise our beloved Mambo (within reason ;) ) Footwork + Body Movement + Spinning + Armwork all require separate time and attention for training. However, within the Afro Latin Funk method, they’re all based on the same fundamental concepts and each a means for expression within the dance. So, in this Intensive we’ll be dealing with how they all work together! We’ll begin with a warmup of footwork and movement drills, to get connected to the music and prepare ourselves for practice. Then we’ll dive right into a sequence of choreography intended to address all of the elements above. We’ll work through the structure first, then go back and refine things by addressing the technical and musical details for execution. As always, my goal in any training experience I share is to work on a skillset to use in our dancing, as well as sharpening the tools we may already possess. I look forward to another challenging afternoon of practice and connection with everyone! **DETAILS** Sunday, FEB 1 from 1-2:30PM Ripley-Grier Studios @ 520 8TH AVE Studio 16J Price: $30 *Dress: Whatever you feel most comfortable moving in. *No heels - please wear flat shoes, socks, or barefoot (if necessary) only.
