Save the Date: September 28th, 3 - 9 PM. Rhythm is what gives us movement and flow. Join us as we explore and celebrate cultures and tradtions that contribute to Greater Corktown's movement and flow. The event includes Salsa at sunset with DJ Sabor and dancers, square dance with the Detroit Square Dance Society, and a drum circle with Baba Kevin Collins. Also, the incomparable Marie Basse Wiles, master dancer and culture bearer, is coming. A native of Senegal that currently lives in New York, she will provide a free a West African dance workshop and demonstration at 5:45 PM. You can also weigh in on plans for our community via the City's traveling planning pop-up or participate in a community visual arts project. Each activity includes short instruction and community participation. No prior experience required. All activities are free (but you must bring the fun) and open to the public. There will be drums available, but feel free to bring your own percussion instrument, bring a lapa (wraparound skirt) and dancing shoes. Come celebrate Corktown with us. More Info below.
