Central Harlem Tour Saturday July 27, 2019 - 3 To 5:30pm

Join Karen Taborn, author of Walking Harlem: the Ultimate Guide to the Cultural Capital of Black America on a tour of Central Harlem on Saturday July 27, 2019. We will meet outside the Schomburg Center (515 Malcolm X Blvd) at 3pm and cover roughly the area between 136th to 132nd Streets & Lenox to Frederick Douglass Blvd (8th Ave). Sites included on the tour are: The Schomburg Center, Harlem Hospital, the original 135th Street NY Public Library, The YMCA, The office of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, Saint Philips Church, The Original Swing Street (including speakeasies and where Billie Holiday began her singing career), the Frogs Social Club and architectural styles of selective buildings.
