Rueda What is rueda?Pairs of dancers form a circle (usually), a caller will call out and use hand signals (in case the music is too loud to hear) to indicate salsa and/or casino dance moves. Many of the moves involve changing partners. Exciting combinations and constant movement of partners make rueda a lot of fun. Hollywood Dance Center817 N. (Come at 8:45 P.M. to pay and sign in) It's ok to quietly enter at 8:45 P.M. during Mary's intermediate salsa class to sign-in, take a seat, and get settled $15 / class (cash only) Salsa, Casino, and/or Rueda Experience Required (There is a beginning salsa class at 7:30 P.M. where you can learn the skills you need to know to be successful in this rueda class.) Singles and Couples Welcome Parking: There is free and easy street parking, but we recommend parking in the parking spots in the alley directly behind the dance studio. Attire: Dress is casual. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable - some people wear button down shirts or cute skirts. Please do not wear watches, bracelets, or rings other than wedding/engagement rings in class. Shoes with leather, suede, or vegan "leather" soles will make it easier to dance. Ladies are encouraged to wear practice shoes or heels. If you wear heels, they should be be no higher than 3" and the ankle strap must keep the shoe attached to your foot as you spin. Men do best in comfortable dress shoes with leather soles, suede, or vegan "leather" soles. Tennis shoes, rubber soles, soles with tread, platform, and flip flop style shoes make it more difficult to dance, but all types of shoes are currently permitted in class.
