Speaker Spotlight: Dottie Li, founder and CEO of Transpacific Communications, has extensive global expertise in public relations and cross-cultural communications training. Her path has taken her from her hometown in China to the corridors of government, association and corporate power in Washington, D.C. She started out in print and broadcast journalism as a producer at C-SPAN and then moved on to work as a corporate spokesperson and public relations executive. Dottie then went on to work at the most famous house in the country, the White House. There, she handled media advance assignments and traveled domestically and overseas for the president, first lady and vice-president. After her service at the White House, Dottie worked as a communications chief for several large nonprofit associations. Dottie was honored as a Mandarin Leader in America in 2018, one of Maryland's top 100 women in 2015 and the Best Cross-cultural Communicator of the Year in 2013. Dottie is also a Commissioner on the Maryland Governor’s Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs. She can be heard as the voice and voice coach for Rosetta Stone’s Mandarin products. Partner Spotlights: Upwardly Global's mission is to eliminate employment barriers for skilled immigrants and refugees, and integrate this population into the professional U.S. workforce. We envision a United States where skilled immigrants are seamlessly integrated into the professional workforce and the fabric of American life, and are recognized for the value they add to both. In 2009, two neighbors got together over some homemade chips, salsa and guacamole and decided to launch District Taco as a food truck. District Taco has since grown and now operates multiple locations in Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Our mission is to serve quality Mexican (Yucatan style!) food that is fresh, simple and healthy. All of our food is made fresh daily from quality ingredients. Lo & Sons bags are built to travel light without compromising functionality and style. Every single high-quality feature was designed to meet the needs of frequent travelers, movers and shakers. Each bag is thoughtfully designed with features like meticulously placed pockets, compartments for tech essentials, and elements for smooth travels like an adjustable sleeve for sliding over suitcase handles. Located in a gorgeous new building in Eastern Market, The Yard set in the Capitol Hill district is the perfect DC coworking space for your business. The space combines private and shared workspaces with stunning lounges, conference rooms, and common areas to inspire collaborative conversation.
