Uncharted is pleased to present Mireya Ramos. After eleven years as the founder of the Latin Grammy winning, all-female mariachi band Flor de Toloache, Mireya Ramos is currently recording her debut solo LP, to be produced by the legendary Camilo Lara of Mexican Institute of Sound. Tonight's show, as part of the 2019 Uncharted Festival at Greenwich House Music School, will be her first public performance of a selection of new originals and covers intended for the upcoming album, along with classic FdT songs from her considerable repertoire. Ramos' band for the evening will include Yasser Tejeda (Palo Tre), Felipe Fournier (Supermambo), Sinuhe Padilla (Jarana Beat and Lila Downs), Shae Fiol (Flor de Toloache), Maielka (Afro Latino Festival), Jill Peacock, Velcro MC, and many additional special guests! Mireya Ines Ramos is a NY-based Latin Grammy winning vocalist, violinist, composer, arranger and founder of Flor de Toloache – NYC’s first and only all-women mariachi. Born in California to proud Dominican and Mexican parents, Mireya was raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico until moving to NYC in her teens to pursue her musical career. Her aura embodies a wide variety of musical influences: from mariachi, salsa to merengue, hip-hop, she weaves a unique and refreshing musical blend. Classically trained by Suzuki method, and having had orchestral experience at University, her passion is strongest for folklore as well as other alternative genres. Being a natural at improvisation and possessing colorful violin and vocal textures have made her one of the top requested Latin artists in New York City. Mireya believes in sharing her skills, encouraging and inspiring the next generation to successfully pursue their dreams through educational workshops and school performances all around the country. Mireya has collaborated with a variety world renown musicians, bands and DJs, including: Chucho Valdez, Eddie Palmieri, Luisito Quintero, Dan Auerbach, Miguel, Robert Glasper, Bilal, Lila Downs, Natalia La Fourcade, Miguel, Velcro, No Te Va Gustar, Diamante Electrico, DJ Louie Vega, Bobbito, Tony Touch, Chris Rock and more. She has been featured with her band on Stephen Colbert, Harry Connick Jr., The View, NPR Tiny Desk, Jools Holland, TED Talk & TEDx Women amongst other. Mireya is recording her first solo album with Mexican Institute of Sound's Camilo Lara and Gaby Moreno among other special guests. Supported by the New York Presenters Consortium, in association with Greenwich House Music School, Joes Pub and the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center Doors open at 7:30 p.m Complimentary beer and wine will be served. A staple of the downtown music scene since 2014, the Uncharted Concert Series at Greenwich House Music School (GHMS) has emerged as one of New York's most exciting and unpredictable live concert series.
