Amado Nervo Song Cycle: A Centennial Celebration (World Premiere)

Subscribe to our mailing list for future events! The year 2019 brings with it the celebration of the centennial anniversary of one of the greatest Spanish-speaking poets: Amado Nervo. The great Mexican writer has left a vast literary work and, notably, an exquisite poetic work that has transcended the borders and that today is part of the great Latin American cultural treasure. Within his work stands, The Immobile Beloved, a key component towards understanding the spirit of the time, perhaps the last romantic and modernist breath of the twentieth century. Emmanuel Trifilio is an Argentine composer with tango roots who has composed a series of songs for piano and to be sung that modernize Nervo's work 100 years after his departure. Nervo developed, at the same time, an extensive diplomatic career that led him to reside many years in Argentina and in Uruguay, where he finally died in 1919. The world premiere of this musical piece will take place on April 26 at 6: 45 pm at the Mexican Cultural Institute.
