Bembe Cincinnati Cuban Masters Series W/ Casino Revo

Bembe' Cincinnati is extremely excited to bring Casino Revo to Cincinnati for our February event in the Epic 12 month Cuban Masters Series! Jarryd Randolph and Paarul Bansal are visiting us from Tampa. They are amazing dancers, performers and instructors and a joy to be around and to dance with. Jarryd Randolph is the director of Casino Revo and has been an instructor of Cuban dance for nearly 10 years in the Tampa Bay area. He has taught and performed at the Unity Dance Festival and Tampa Salsa & Bachata Festival, the Atlanta Bachata Festival, Jacksonville Salsa Jam, Annual Spanish fair at USF, Macy's Hispanic heritage pageant event, local Multicultural events, and Paradise Dance Festival. Jarryd's main focus is promoting Cuban dance and music to the Tampa Bay area community as well as surrounding areas. He created Rueda in Tampa Parks in 2014, a free community dance class in order to help promote Cuban dance. His passion exceeds the dance floor delving into the music genres of Cuba and other traditional and folkloric dances. Every instructor is still a student in some way as is he when it comes to learning more about Cuban dance and music culture. [hidden] Every workshop will focus on details to help you become a better and more dynamic dancer! Check out the amazing schedule below! ***Because of the focus of the classes, we are strickly limiting the tickets to the first 30 people*** SATURDAY 1-2pm – Casino Revo’ Casino In this class you’ll learn some of their favorite fun and practical Casino moves for social dancing. Jarryd and Paarul breakdown their styling and flavor of Casino to give us a foundation for the weekend and show the variability of the dance. No matter where you travel, Casino dancers have different flavor and techniques. We are going to find out how they do it down in Tampa! 2-3pm – Advanced Casino Patterns Part of what makes Casino amazing is being able to get into and out of movements and positions that seem impossible. In this class, they will take you through some of their favorite Advanced Casino moves and how to transition between them. 3-4pm - Timba Translations: When Two Instructors Translate a Song into a Dance We are super excited to bring something that has never been done before at a Cuban festival! Two Schools, 1 Song, 2 Dance Translations, 1 Hour workshop. Casino Revo’ and Bembe' Cincinnati are going to collaborate through their own translation of the same music. Jarryd and Paarul have selected a section of a song. Jeff and Ashley will join them at the beginning of the class and dance to this selection showcasing how both sets of instructors translate the music into the dance. Afterward, each set of Instructors will breakdown and teach their sequence, talk about the music and why they decided to dance as they did. Will they be the same? Will they be completely different? We are very excited to find out! We won't know until you do! This class will teach you different ways of translating music instead of falling into the "patterns" trap that we can find ourselves in. It will be a very dynamic and thought-provoking class. 4-5pm – Rueda de Casino In this class you’ll learn fun movements, dance steps, and Rueda calls that define the Casino Revo’ school. They’ll share some of their favorite calls and music for dancing in a Rueda SATURDAY NIGHT PARTY! Cuban music with an added spice of Bachata, Merengue and Salsa thrown in until 1am! BYOB SUNDAY 1-2pm - Son and Cha Cha Cha Son is the style of dance and music that directly preceded Casino (aka Salsa) in Cuba. It is beautiful and elegant, simple in movements but sophisticated in rhythm and style. Many of the best Casino dancers incorporate movements, turns, timing, and style from Son into their Casino dancing. In this class you'll learn some fundamental steps, movements, and turn patterns as well as more intermediate material. 2-3pm - Casino Variations and Musicality Jarryd and Paarul will take us through a series of movements that get us to play with the beats, different dances like Son, Cha cha cha and Casino and how they can blend together. When you listen to the music, your dance will change and become more dynamic. This is the class that that’s going to bring that all together! 3-4pm – A visit from Rueda con Ritmo Jeff and Ashley from Bembe' Cincinnati are going to take you through a series of movements, patterns and styling that came from our previous month with Rueda con Ritmo. We want to showcase some of the key musicality takeaways from January to keep it fresh in everyone’s mind and dance. 4-5pm - Rueda de Casino Jarryd and Paarul are back with another amazing Rueda de Casino class. In this hour we will learn other patterns and sequences that showcase the flavor of Casino Revo’.
