Help Us Bring The Aces Of Rhythm To The Philly Tango Fest!

We want to make the 8th year of the Philly Tango Fest! really special and are looking to bring the best and most "bailable" (danceable) tango band in the country, the The Aces of Rhythm, to play for two nights of our festival milongas. Coming off a huge success performing at Lincoln Center in July, the Aces of Rhythm is a Tango Sextet that pays tribute to the music and style of the legendary band leader Juan D’Arienzo. VIDEO: [hidden] D’Arienzo’s nickname was “The King of Rhythm” because of his unstoppable beat that created a revolution in Argentine Tango and propelled thousands of dancers to the dance floor. The sextet plays D’Arienzo’s arrangements, as transcribed from his original music, and recreates the contagious "compás" (beat/rhythm) of D'Arienzo's recordings. (formerly known as the Philadelphia International Tango Festival), we solicited feedback from attendees. By far, the biggest request was for live music (11 out of 20 respondents asked us to include it in the 2018 festival). The costs of bringing live music are numerous: in addition to paying the individual musicians, we have to cover their travel, lodging, instrument rentals, sound engineer, sound equipment, and more. We are not able to bring that money in organically from milonga ticket sales and so we need your help! Raising $10,000 will cover most of the expenses of bringing the Aces of Rhythm to perform LIVE for dancing at two nights of the 2018 Philly Tango Fest.
