Let's bust some moves on the roof! 2nd Tuesdays @ Mothership NYC are informal, salon-style gatherings for artist friends & colleagues and other arts appreciators – come join us for wine, laughs and shared stories. Improvised presentations are very welcome: whoever wants to sing, play, perform or show us something cool will have the most appreciative audience in NYC! This month, we are very pleased to host an informal SALSA CLASS by a dear former Mothership Crew Member: Nelesi Gabriela Rodríguez Trujillo is a Venezuelan-born media educator, researcher, and creative practitioner. Her work focuses on understandings of the body as a medium for learning and the relationship between pedagogy and community. She is neither a professional dancer nor a dance instructor, but she's the kind of person who has been dancing salsa since she was in the crib. On the second Tuesday of August, she'll bring her guaguancó and teach us some salsa moves, the way tías teach them at every family party. Our doors are wide open to all comers as of 7:30 pm. We’ll have some wine and popcorn on hand; feel free to bring along anything else you’d like to see on the table. And, by all means, take along a friend, too! More Info below.
